One of only three exchanges here whose CASP authorisation actually includes operating a trading platform. Licence N00000003 from Luxembourg’s CSSF. Fees are priced on three independent axes rather than one ladder.
Bitstamp prices on three axes and no comparison site we checked reflected that. Standard pairs start at 0.30% / 0.40%, FX and stablecoin pairs at 0.060% / 0.080%, and USDT pairs at 0.030% / 0.040% — an order of magnitude apart. Which axis you are on matters far more than which tier.
Register entry
Bitstamp Europe S.A. is authorised by Luxembourg’s CSSF, licence N00000003, granted 15 May 2025, covering 7 of the 10 MiCA services. Critically, that set includes operation of a trading platform — a permission most exchanges on this page do not hold.
Custody & safeguards
Bitstamp prices on three independent axes across eleven volume tiers, not one ladder:
Standard pairs — 0.30% / 0.40% under $10,000, 0.20% / 0.30% above.
FX and stablecoin pairs — 0.060% / 0.080%, falling to 0.040% / 0.060%.
USDT pairs — 0.030% / 0.040%, falling to 0.020% / 0.030%.
USDT pairs are roughly ten times cheaper than standard pairs at the same volume tier. No aggregator we checked reflected the USDT axis at all, which means a “Bitstamp fees” figure quoted anywhere else is describing at most one third of the picture.
