Overview

Interactive Brokers is the professional's multi-asset broker: Nasdaq-listed, regulated by six tier-1 authorities, $17.5 billion in equity capital, and access to 150+ markets across stocks, options, futures, bonds, funds, spot FX and (outside the US) CFDs. On trust and financial strength it scores as high as any broker on earth.

It is also not a MetaTrader broker. Trading happens on Trader Workstation (TWS), the newer IBKR Desktop, Client Portal and the mobile apps. Spot FX runs on institutional aggregated pricing across 100+ pairs with commission-based costs among the lowest in the industry — but the workflow, order tickets and platform are entirely different from MT5.

Regional reality: US residents cannot trade CFDs at all and cannot trade retail spot forex (that requires Eligible Contract Participant status — $10M in assets). Outside the US, spot FX plus index and share CFDs are available depending on entity.

How This Works With Our Signals

Honestly: it can, but it isn't built for it. A non-US member can manually place our forex signals as spot FX and our index signals as index CFDs on TWS — entries, stops and take-profits are all supported. But there is no MT5, the TP ladder must be managed through TWS's bracket/scale orders, FX commission minimums penalise small position sizes, and the platform's learning curve is real.

US members: IBKR is effectively out for our signals — no CFDs and no retail spot forex means neither our forex pairs nor our index instruments are tradeable in the form we publish.

Where IBKR genuinely shines for our audience: as the second account — the place your long-term capital, stocks and ETFs live, at the safest large broker in the industry — while signal execution stays on an MT5 broker.

Pros & Cons

Highest trust profile in the industry — Nasdaq-listed, 6 tier-1 regulators
$17.5B equity capital; auditable financial strength
Among the lowest trading costs anywhere, across every asset class
One account for stocks, options, futures, bonds, FX worldwide
No MT4/MT5 — our signal workflow does not transfer
US residents: no CFDs, no retail spot forex — our instruments untradeable
TWS learning curve is steep; FX commission minimums hurt small sizes
Wrong audience fit: built for investors and professionals, not signal execution
Our Verdict on Interactive Brokers

IBKR is the best broker in the world at what it does — and what it does is not signal execution. We review it because members ask, and because it is the right home for the other half of your financial life: long-term investments at unmatched cost and safety.

For trading our signals as published, use an MT5 broker. If you are outside the US and determined to run them on TWS, it is possible with manual level translation into its order tickets — but you are working against the platform, not with it.

NEED A HOME FOR YOUR LONG-TERM CAPITAL?

IBKR is the professional standard. Keep signal execution on MT5.

SIGNAL COMPATIBILITY — LIMITED

No MT4/MT5. Non-US members can manually place our forex signals as spot FX and index signals as CFDs on TWS; US members cannot trade our instruments here at all. For running our signals as published, see our MT5 broker reviews →
